The Program

The Graduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering (PPGCEM) – Master's and Doctoral degrees, at the Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (UNESC), is aimed at professionals and managers with higher education qualifications who work or intend to work in the areas of engineering and technologies related to the field of materials.
Materials are essential and strategic elements for the technological, economic, and sustainable development of a society and are integrated into various areas of knowledge. The demand for new materials that meet increasingly diverse requirements is growing and, to this end, it is essential to train new professionals who are able to work with excellence in this segment.
The Graduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering (PPGCEM) arose from the regional need to train human resources in the field of materials, since the southern region of Santa Catarina, in addition to concentrating a diversified industrial park in the mining, ceramics, polymers and metallurgy sectors, is increasingly investing in innovation and new technologies.
In this regard, this Master’s and Doctoral Program deepens and mobilizes professionals to engage in internationalized research and teaching, promoting sustainability, innovation, and regional development linked to the productive and technological sectors. PPGCEM is an important space for both workforce training and scientific development and innovation, particularly in terms of production processes, and the development and characterization of materials.
